A couple of rivalry games are coming up in high school girls hoops as the regular season schedule begins to wind down. 

Waterloo (9-14) split two recent contests ahead of Tuesday night’s home game against Route 3 rival Columbia. The Bulldogs dominated the Eagles in a 55-28 win.

Last Wednesday, Waterloo lost 52-33 to Teutopolis to close out play in the Highland Tournament. Mallory Thompson led the Bulldogs with 12 points. 

Last Tuesday, Waterloo posted a 54-51 win at the tourney. The Bulldogs battled back from being down 31-18 at halftime to emerge victorious. Liv Colson scored 17 points and Thompson added 15 points. 

Following the game against Columbia, Waterloo hosts Mascoutah this Friday night and then cross-town foe Gibault on Monday. 

Colson leads the ‘Dogs in scoring this season at 9.5 points per game, followed by Thompson at nine points per game. 

Gibault (6-15) lost 58-36 at Althoff on Thursday. Kamille Grohmann scored 11 points to lead the Hawks. 

Last Tuesday, Gibault picked up a 44-34 win at home over Steeleville. Bri Baldridge netted 17 points for the Hawks. 

Baldridge is averaging 10.8 points per game this season to lead Gibault, which hosts Bunker Hill on Thursday and Harrisburg on Saturday prior to traveling across town to face the Bulldogs this coming Monday. 

Columbia (13-11) follows Tuesday’s rivalry clash at Waterloo by hosting Salem on Thursday and Freeburg on Monday. 

Jordan Holten is averaging 13.6 points per game to lead the Eagles this season. 

Valmeyer (10-5) will hope to get back in the win column later this week.

The Pirates dropped a 73-35 contest to Father McGivney on Thursday. Brooke Miller scored 16 points – including four three-pointers.

Unfortunately, Valmeyer committed 29 turnovers on the night. 

The Pirates play Thursday at Marissa and Friday at Maryville Christian. 

Brooke Miller leads the team in scoring this season at 17.5 points per game, rebounding at 12.2 per game, steals at 3.87 per game and blocks at 2.8 per game. 

Kierstin Miller averages 11.2 points, 10.9 rebounds and 3.47 steals per game this season. 

Dupo (3-14) returns to action this coming Monday at Steeleville. 

Addison Mitchell is the top scorer this season at 10 points per game. 

Keara Prater is the top rebounder for the Tigers at 6.4 per game.
