Sunday night fire guts vacant Fults home
The Maeystown, Valmeyer and Prairie du Rocher fire departments battled a fire to a vacant home at 3109 Maeystown Road near the corner of Bluff Road in Fults on Sunday night.
The blaze was reported around 10:30 p.m., with flames seen shooting through the windows.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department assisted with traffic control.
The home was completely destroyed in the blaze. The residence was formerly occupied by Harold and Gladys Klein, a neighbor told the Republic-Times, but they hadn’t lived there in at least a year. Some cleaning had been done at the property within the last month, this person said, and a full dumpster was observed on the property. It is believed that a bank owned the home.
An early cause of the fire appears to be electrical. No injuries were reported in the incident.
