CHS will honor former Columbia High School baseball player Jim Kremmel Monday, April 22, in a memorial service during the Columbia/Dupo varsity baseball game at the Eagleview fields at 4:30 p.m.

Kremmel is a member of the CHS Hall of Fame and University of New Mexico Hall of Fame. He was a left-handed pitcher for the Texas Rangers and Chicago Cubs in 1973-74. Unfortunately, his baseball career ended early due to an injury.

Although his time in the majors was cut short, he could not bring himself to leave the sport entirely.  After receiving his masters degree in psychology in 1991 from Gonzaga University, he became a sports psychology consultant for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Kansas City Royals, and Texas Rangers from 1998-2002. He spent most of the last 25 years as a private practice psychotherapist.

A reception immediately following the game will be held at Reifschneider’s Grill and Grape in Columbia as an opportunity to share old baseball memories and reminisce with Jim’s friends and family. Donations for the Robert Holden Memorial Scholarship in honor of Kremmel and Robert Holden will be accepted at the reception.
