Gibault High School senior runner Daniel Kuester is this week’s Republic-Times Athlete of the Week.

The GHS track star has broken or tied a school record four times in the team’s six meets so far this season. Hawks track coach Carol Berg says that he is just a natural runner and it seems to come with ease for him.

Kuester tied the school record in the 800 meter run in the team’s second meet of the season at Sparta on March 19th with a time of 2:12. He tied it again at Sparta on April 1, while also breaking the school record in the 1,600 meter run with a time of 4:58.

The next day, Kuester finally broke the 800 meter GHS record by one second at a Red Bud meet with a time of 2:11.

Good luck Daniel and keep up the good work!
