The Republic-Times Athlete of the Week is Southern Illinois Bulldogs Wrestling Club wrestler Jaxson Mathenia of Waterloo. For the first time in history, the club brought home an Illinois Kids Wrestling Federation state champion. Mathenia wrestled in the 176-pound weight class and not only did he win the state title, he also pinned his way through the entire tournament this past weekend in Rockford.
