Waterloo, Valmeyer, SPPCS junior high volleyball advance to state
It was an exciting night for the local junior high volleyball scene Monday. Two local teams, Waterloo Junior High and Valmeyer Junior High, both came away with regional championship titles on their way to the state competition. And on Tuesday Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School’s team won its regional tournament as well.
Waterloo surpassed Dupo in the first match of the night. Sparta then defeated Trico in the second match that preceded the WJHS game. For the championship, the Bulldogs topped Sparta, winning in two games, 25-18, 25-23.
WJHS will play Herrin at the SIJHSAA Class L volleyball state tournament Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Pinckneyville High School.

The Pirates will play Christopher at 9:00 a.m.
The Lady Falcons easily defeated Red Bud’s St John’s in two games to win the first match of the regional tournament. On Tuesday, the girls took on St. Libory for the championship title. They handed the Saints a loss with two quick games to be crowned the region 6 champions, and earn a trip to the state tournament this weekend in Herrin, IL.
They will begin the day playing Germantown, in Herrin, at 11 a.m. The Lady Falcons have a 22-7 record going into the state tournament.
