There will be plenty of fun for all ages this holiday weekend at Borsch Park in Old Valmeyer as the Valmeyer Midsummer Celebration takes place this Saturday through Monday, July 2-4.

Food items for sale will include burgers, brats, hot dogs, french fries, pulled pork, pork steaks, nachos, pretzels, pork rinds, kettle corn and ice cream, with plenty of beer, soda, lemonade and Gatorade to quench your thirst.

The 50th annual Midsummer Classic baseball tournament begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, with other activities that day being a Brent Roever Memorial Volleyball Tournament at 9 a.m. (call 618-741-0515 for more information), a lawn mower/ATV pull at 10 a.m. (call 618-410-6770) and music by Johnny Rock-Itt at 8:30 p.m.

The baseball continues all day Sunday, with other activities including an antique tractor show starting at 8 a.m. and a parade at 1 p.m. This year’s parade theme is “Island Paradise.” SuperJam plays music at 8:30 p.m.

On Monday, the baseball tourney concludes with the title game at approximately 3 p.m. A bags tourney takes place at 12:30 p.m. (call 618-830-5156) and music will be performed by Dos Amigos from 5-9 p.m. A large fireworks display blasts off at dusk.
