Vandals cause damage in Waterloo

A van had its window smashed in at 305 Grand Ave.

Waterloo police are investigating a large number of criminal damage reports that apparently occurred late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning throughout the city.

A van in the 300 block of Grand Avenue had its passenger side window completely smashed out.

A broken mailbox was reported in the 100 block of Thomas Lane. Other mailbox damage reports were called in on Moore Road.

In all, reports ranged from damaged and broken mailboxes to smashed-in car windows and cracked exterior vehicle side mirrors. As of this writing, damage reports have been taken on Grand Avenue, Thomas Lane, Paula Drive, North Moore Street, Moore Road, Sterritt Run, Creekside Drive, South Church Street and Veterans Drive.

The driver’s side mirror of another vehicle was smashed in the 500 block of South Main Street.

Anyone who may have seen or heard suspicious activity during the overnight hours is urged to contact the Waterloo Police Department office at 939-3377.

A mailbox was damaged at 125 Thomas Lane.
