Local law enforcement agencies are on the lookout for a man who ran from Waterloo police following an early Monday morning traffic stop. The man is believed to be wanted for armed robbery in Williamson County.

Waterloo Police Chief Jim Trantham told the Republic-Times that an officer stopped a pickup truck for a traffic offense at about 3:25 a.m. in a parking lot at 503 Park Street. The driver, described as a white male standing about 5-foot-11 and wearing a black shirt, blue jeans and dark baseball cap, ran from the officer. Trantham said the WPD officer gave chase but was unable to locate the suspect.

“Information located in the truck indicates the driver is wanted from Williamson County for armed robbery of an individual with a firearm,” Trantham said. “The truck belongs to a relative of the individual wanted.”

Police found a wallet, drugs and cash inside the truck.

Columbia Police Department K-9 Officer Zack Hopkins responded with his dog Daggo, searching the area with negative results.

“All the early-hour businesses in the area were notified to watch for the subject,” Trantham said.
