Local crime news 1/3/14

•Waterloo police are investigating a couple of car break-ins that occurred Jan. 1 on the Waterloo Cinema parking lot. A GPS device was stolen from an unlocked vehicle, while the window was broken out of another vehicle. No items were reported missing from that vehicle.

•Columbia police are still investigating the recent rash of vehicle break-ins and residential burglaries that occurred Dec. 25-28. Call 281-5151 if you have any information. Click here for the original story.

•Waterloo police on Dec. 30 arrested Cory N. Jones, 22, of Freeburg, for felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of a hypodermic syringe in the 300 block of West Fourth Street.

•Dwight A. Yates, 51, of Belleville, was arrested Dec. 30 by Illinois State Police for felony DUI (fifth offense) and felony driving while license revoked (eighth offense) following a traffic stop on I-255 southbound.
