Contract approved for Dupo teachers

Following months of tense negotiations, a new collective bargaining agreement between Dupo’s Board of Education and Federation of Teachers and Paraprofessionals Local 1732 was approved Monday night.

The two-year agreement is retoractive to Aug. 15, 2012, and remains in effect until one day prior to the 2014-15 school year.

Dupo School Superintendent Terry Milt said the two-year agreement includes a salary freeze for the first year, and a two percent salary increase in the second year with no steps.

Teachers had been working without a contract since the start of the current school year.
