Vehicle fire west of Waterloo

The Waterloo Fire Department responded about noon Thursday to a vehicle fire that also damaged the exterior of a nearby residence in the 5700 block of Deer Hill Road near Foster Pond.

The vehicle, a 2014 KIA Sportage, was destroyed in the blaze. Heat from the flames melted some of the siding of a house.

Property owner Dominick Juliano said he had recently driven his KIA Sportage and had no idea it was having issues that would lead to a fire. The vehicle was in the driveway of his property when the fire occurred. No injuries were reported.

The Valmeyer and Maeystown fire departments were initially paged for assistance but called back a short time later.

The WFD cleared the scene at 12:55 p.m.
